Part One: Initial Consultation
On March 18th, Kim and Joel requested a consultation on our website.
They had an old master bathroom that was not matching their needs anymore, and a dated powder room they weren’t happy with.
Some of the things they hated was the lack of space, the dated finishes, and the space that basically looked ugly.
On top of this, they wanted a more accessible bathroom that they could use as they age.
This is what most of our homeowners deal with.
Some of the things they didn't like about their two old bathrooms were...

Poor storage
Besides the old vanity, top, sink and faucet, there wasn’t enough storage space for the couple.

Old tub/shower
This was a nice tub/shower combo because it was grout-free, but it was dated and damaged.

Dated tilework
The tile used on the walls and floor was cracked, stained, and our clients wanted a more modern look.

Bad lighting

Uninspiring
A powder room needs to be inspiring and relaxing, and this space was anything but that.
Part Two: The Design, Planning, Permitting
Kim and Joel were okay with the layout of the two bathrooms so we didn’t have to relocate anything. Even so, we did create a new design with a 3D render, planned the whole upgrade, pulled the permits, and got it done!

We got the cabinets from Elite Custom Cabinetry here in Weston, a big part of what we do. These are semi-custom cabinets built to match our clients’ storage needs.

These are birch cabinets in a slate/granite color, with traditional bevel doors, shaker drawer fronts, Ashen Gray quartz tops, and Jeffrey Alexander hardware.
Part Three: The Time Schedule
Because we offer a design-remodel service, this means we’re taking care of everything from start to finish.
This allows us to deliver any remodel on time and on budget, with a streamlined process. This is how this project went…
Mar-Apr
Jun-Jul-Aug
In June we started planning everything. On Jul 26th Kim got the design for the custom cabinets, and in Aug the 3D renders. Then, we started ordering the materials.
Sept-Oct
On Sept 18th, we broke ground and started the demolition of the two baths. Then…
We demoed both the powder room and the master bath. On this day, we also installed the new flooring in the powder room and replaced a window.
We framed the master bath on the 20th. On the 24th the rough-in plumbing was ready, and on the 25th the rough-in electrical too. On Sept 27th we had an inspection scheduled.
On Sept 30th we started installing the drywall in the new master bath. We needed new drywall for the tub/shower combo.
On October 9th, we installed the new vinyl tile floor in the main bathroom and we tiled the new shower. We were halfway through the project.
On October 14th, after the tile settled, we installed the new shower fixtures and made the shower usable.
We installed the new custom vanity and the tower cabinets left and right side of the mirror. We installed the vanity top and electrical trim the next day.
After the final touchups and a final inspection, we cleaned up the area, staged the two new bathrooms, and took some awesome pictures for us and the homeowner.
