Why Homeowners Trust Remodeling Journey For Their Sunroom Additions

Remodeling Journey is a family-run dwelling contractor building sunroom additions for homeowners across Central Wisconsin. The build side, the design side, and the production crew are all run by people who live in the region and understand what a sunroom needs to handle real winters and real summer heat.

When you bring us a sunroom project, the same person stays with you across every phase: the first conversation, design reviews, build, and final walkthrough. Each step lands on a project calendar so you know which trades are showing up which week, and the jobsite gets cleaned at the end of every day, so the rest of your house still feels like home while we work.

Before any framing goes up, you’ll see your sunroom in full 3D renderings, walk through it in VR, and sign off on a written contract that locks in the scope. By the time we break ground, there are no surprises about what’s being built or how it’s going to feel once you step into it.

Types Of Sunrooms We Build

Sunrooms come in a few different flavors, and the right one depends on how you want to use the space, how often, and what kind of weather you want to be sitting through. Here’s a quick breakdown of the main types we build.
Type Use Window Heating & Cooling Best For
Three-Season Spring through fall Naturally ventilated, no full HVAC Casual lounging, weekend mornings, plants in warm months
Four-Season Year-round Fully heated and cooled A real extra room you'll use in February as much as June
Solarium Year-round Heated, with high-performance glazing Sunlight-focused use, indoor gardening, dramatic glass-roofed spaces
If you’re not sure which one fits your home, that’s a normal place to start, and we’ll walk through it with you during the consultation.

What People Say About Us

The folks below let us into their homes for weeks while we built their sunrooms, and they were kind enough to share what the experience was actually like afterward. Their words give you a clearer sense of how we work than anything we could write about ourselves.

Rust and Sawdust did a phenomenal job on our entertainment center as well as the updates to our mantle! We couldn’t be happier!

The couple work together to capture not only the decor feel of the built in but also functionality!

Would highly recommend for any project!

Rust and Sawdust helped me with some handyman work.

They were very easy to work with, showed up at the scheduled time and Justin did exactly what he said he was going to do.

Very reasonable and knowledgeable, I am very happy with the work. I plan on working with Rust and Sawdust again in the future, would highly recommend.

Picking The Right Spot For Your Sunroom

Where the sunroom goes on your property matters almost as much as how it’s built. The right placement gives you natural light most of the day, a usable view, and a clean tie-in to the rooms you already use most.

South and southwest exposures tend to give you the best mix of morning and afternoon sun, while east-facing sunrooms work beautifully for breakfast spots and west-facing ones lean into evening light. The connection to your existing home matters too.

A sunroom off the kitchen feels like an extension of daily life, while one off the primary bedroom turns into a private retreat. Lot grading, existing landscaping, and roofline tie-ins all factor in, and we’ll walk your property with you during the consultation to figure out the best fit.

Our Sunroom Process

Building a sunroom involves more moving parts than most homeowners expect, and we run our process so each one stays organized through the day you start using the space.

FAQs About Sunroom Additions

Most sunrooms take roughly two to four months to build, depending on the type and size. Three-season builds tend to move faster than four-season ones because they involve less HVAC, glazing, and insulation work. After your consultation, we put together a project calendar with realistic dates for each phase so you know exactly what to expect week by week.
It depends on how you plan to use it. A three-season sunroom works great if you want a relaxed warm-weather space and don’t need it in deep winter. A four-season build is a bigger project but pays off if you actually want to read in the sunroom in January, host year-round, or treat it as a real extra room.
Yes, sunrooms count as additions and require building permits, structural review, and inspections. We handle all of it in-house, including plans, permit submissions, code compliance, and inspection scheduling. You won’t be making phone calls to the building department or chasing inspectors, that’s part of what you hire us for.
A properly built four-season sunroom absolutely will, and that’s how we build them. High-performance insulated glass, snow-rated roof systems, sealed connections to the existing house, and an HVAC plan that fits the space all matter. Cut corners on any of those and you end up with a beautiful room you only use four months a year.

See What Your Sunroom Could Look Like

A well-built sunroom turns into one of the most-used rooms in your house, the morning coffee spot, the rainy afternoon reading nook, the place you sit and watch the snow come down.
